Guiding Transition recognises that may factors influence a child’s readiness for school. Naturally chronological age should be a factor ,however, there are other considerations. Each child’s needs should be considered individually so that the best possible outcome is achieved. We believe the best time to start planning is when children are in their 3 year old kindergarten year.

READINESS FOR SCHOOL ASSESSMENT
“Children should not just cope or manage; they should thrive!”
Making the decision about a child’s readiness for school is a dilemma for many parents and there are many factors to be considered. Guiding Transition offers an independent service to support parents in a variety of ways. These include:
- An introductory meeting with parents. This may be conducted by phone if preferred
- A full readiness for school assessment which includes an introductory meeting and assessment with your child, a visit and observation of your child in their kindergarten setting, a discussion with your child’s kindergarten teacher, a discussion with the school your child will be attending and a final meeting to discuss recommendations and the options available.
